RED DEER – The first weekend of the Hockey Alberta Provincial Championships is in the books with two champions being crowned from the AFHL.
The Olds Grizzly’s (U15 AA) and the Edmonton Pandas (U18 AAA) took home their respective provincial championships on Sunday. Olds defeated Calgary Fire Red 7-1 at Pason Arena in Okotoks, while the Edmonton Pandas beat the St. Albert Bauer Slash 2-1 at Father David Bauer Arena in Calgary.
The Edmonton Pandas will now move on the play in the Pacific Regional Championships for a chance to get to the Esso Cup.
Upcoming Provincial Championships scheduled for March 24-27 include: U18 AA Female (Ponoka/Red Deer), Junior C (Sherwood Park), U15 AAA (Fort Saskatchewan), U15 AA (Beaumont), U15 Tier 1 (Canmore), U15 Tier 2 (Battle River), U15 AA Tier 3 (Provost), U15 Tier 4 (Lacombe), U15 Female A (Lethbridge), and U15 Female B (Camrose).
