AFHL Provincials Preview – U15 AA and U18 AAA

RED DEER – Two Alberta Female Hockey League Provincial Champions will be crowned this weekend as the U15 AA and U18 AAA divisions are set to kick off their provincial tournaments on Thursday and Friday.

After completing a regular season and playoff schedule that began in October, five U15 AA teams and four U18 AAA teams will battle it out to determine the 2021-22 Provincial Champion of their respective division.

The U15 AA tournament is set to begin in Okotoks on Thursday, with the Edmonton Pandas taking on the St. Albert Chargers at 12:30pm as the opening game. The other teams involved are Calgary Fire Red, the Olds Grizzlys, and host Rocky Mountain Raiders. The champion will be crowned on Sunday after the gold medal game that begins at 1:45pm.

The U18 AAA tournament will be hosted in Calgary and begin on Friday. The opening games include the Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs taking on the Edmonton Pandas at 8:45am, and the St. Albert Slash battling the host Calgary Fire at 9:00am. The tournament will conclude on Sunday with the gold medal final taking place at 1:15pm. The winner of the U18 AAA provincial tournament will move on to compete at the Pacific Regional Championships for a chance to move on to the Esso Cup.
