AFHL U15 AA Playoffs: Round 2 Recap

Round 2 of the AFHL U15 AA Playoffs wrapped up this week, finalizing the four teams that will represent their divisions at the 2026 Provincial Championships.

With best-of-three series across both divisions, teams battled for the opportunity to extend their season and compete for a provincial title. When the dust settled, two teams from the North and two from the South secured their spots at provincials.

North Division

PCFAC Storm sweep Camrose Wildcats (2–0)

The PCFAC Storm continued their strong playoff run with a two-game sweep of the Camrose Wildcats.

PCFAC opened the series with a solid 3–1 win in Game 1 before pulling away with a 5–2 victory in Game 2 to close out the matchup.

With the series win, the Storm secure their place at the 2026 U15 AA Provincial Championships as one of the North Division representatives.

Lloydminster Steelers defeat St. Albert Chargers (2–1)

The series between the Lloydminster Steelers and the St. Albert Chargers provided the most drama of the round.

Lloydminster opened the series with a thrilling 5–4 overtime victory in Game 1 before St. Albert responded with a narrow 4–3 win in Game 2 to force a deciding Game 3.

In the final game of the series, the Steelers delivered a statement performance, skating to an 8–1 win to secure the series and their spot at provincials.

Lloydminster joins PCFAC as the North Division representatives at the 2026 Provincial Championships.

South Division

Red Deer Chiefs sweep Calgary Fire Black (2–0)

The Red Deer Chiefs advanced with a pair of close victories over the Calgary Fire Black.

Red Deer opened the series with a 5–3 win in Game 1 before edging Calgary 3–2 in Game 2 to complete the sweep and punch their ticket to provincials.

Calgary Fire Red sweep Southern Express (2–0)

The Calgary Fire Red secured their provincial berth with a two-game series win over the Southern Express.

Calgary opened with a 6–3 win in Game 1 and followed it up with a tight 4–3 victory in Game 2 to close out the series.

With the win, Calgary Fire Red joins the Red Deer Chiefs as the South Division representatives heading to provincials.

Provincial Championship Bound

The four teams advancing to the 2026 U15 AA Provincial Championships are:

  • Red Deer Chiefs
  • Calgary Fire Red

The tournament begins March 19 in Calgary at East Calgary Twin Arenas, with the Calgary Fire Black serving as the host team.
