AFHL Monthly Wrap-Up – January

U18 AAA
After the first month of 2022, the U18 AAA standings are:

1) Edmonton Pandas (61 pts)
2) Calgary Fire (47 pts)
3) St. Albert Bauer Slash (36 pts)
4) Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs (33 pts)
5) Lloydminster PWM Steelers (26 pts)
6) Rocky Mountain Raiders (7 pts)

Cassidy Rhodes is still sitting atop the league’s point standings with 26 points in 21 games for the Edmonton Pandas. Her ten goals are still one off the league lead, held by Jennifer Shaw (11) of the Calgary Fire.

Pandas goaltender Lindsey Johnson has stretched her undefeated record to 13 games, with a sparkling 0.31 GAA and 0.985 SV%, along with ten shutouts.

The 2022 U18 AAA showcase is set to run in Red Deer from February 4-6, in partnership with the Alberta Junior Female Hockey League.


U18 AA
Through the first four months of the season, the U18AA standings are:

North Division:

4) Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs (20 pts)

Sophy Aldred of Calgary Fire White continues to lead the league in points (31) and goals (18), while Rory Bothwell (Sherwoord Park Fury) is still  second in league points with 23. Kaylee Stagman of Calgary Fire Red is currently second in goals with 14.

Calgary Fire Red goaltender Megs Thiessen has taken over the league lead in GAA at 1.50, and is tied in SV% with Calgary Fire White’s Hadley Stevens, who are both sporting a 0.937. Stevens is still leading the league in shutouts with four, and her ten wins sit one behind Sherwood Park’s Grace Mackenzie (11) for the lead.

As January comes to an end, the U15 AA standings are:

St. Albert Sharks forward Paige Smith has moved even further ahead on the points and goals leaderboards with 52 and 34 respectively.  Following her are Olds Grizzlys forward Emelia McDermid (41 points) and teammate Aubrey Sanderson (37 points).

Teammates Brooklynn Pirnak and Addison MacDonald of the St. Albert Chargers sit atop of the leaderboard with a 1.36 and 1.48 GAA to go with their matching 0.929 SV%. Rocky Mountain Raiders goalie Katie Frost leads the league with 10 wins, while Brooklynn Adams of the Southern Express leads the way with five shutouts.
