The Alberta Female Hockey League’s U15 AA regular season has come to a close, with all teams advancing to the playoffs, including four who have received a bye in the first round.
The final U15 AA standings at the end of the regular season are:
North Division:
1) St. Albert Chargers (69 pts)
2) Lloydminster Richardsons Jewellery Jr. Steelers (43 pts)
3) Edmonton Pandas (25 pts)
4) Sherwood Park Royals (25 pts)
5) North Central Impact (21 pts)
6) Peace Country PCFAC Storm (18 pts)
South Division:
1) Olds Grizzlys (50 pts)
2) Rocky Mountain Raiders (48 pts)
3) Southern Express (46 pts)
4) Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs (46 pts)
4) Calgary Fire White (40 pts)
6) Calgary Fire Red (37 pts)
St. Albert Sharks forward Paige Smith finished her incredible season atop the points and goals leaderboard with 68 and 44 in just 26 games, good for 2.62 points per game. Behind her were Olds Grizzlys forwards Emelia McDermid (47 points) and Jennifer Keller (46 points), along with Smith’s St. Albert teammate Aubrey Sanderson (46 points).
St. Albert teammates Brooklynn Pirnak and Addison MacDonald finished their strong seasons atop of the leaderboard with a 1.12 GAA and 0.938 SV% for Pirnak and a 1.38 GAA and 0.931 SV% for MacDonald. MacDonald would also end up tied for the league lead in wins (12) with Raiders’ goalie Katie Frost, and tied in shutouts (5) with Southern Express’ Brooklynn Adams.
The top two teams in each division have received a bye for the first round of playoffs. These teams include the St. Albert Chargers and Lloydminster Richardsons Jewellery Jr. Steelers in the North, and Olds Grizzlys and Rocky Mountain Raiders in the South.
Round one of the U15 AA playoffs will begin on Friday, February 25 – all series are best-of-three. The first round matchups and schedules are as follows:
